20 Years of Google News

Celebrating Google News 20th anniversary with an interactive scrolling website that chronicles major milestones and feature updates from the past two decades.

This educational look back at Google News history engages users with dynamic visuals, clickable fact bubbles, and responsive animations.

To add a layer of playability, we incorporated a trivia game and crossword puzzle at the end of the timeline.

Trivia

We wanted to test our guests knowledge of the early 2000’s with a fun and easy Trivia game. At the end of the 10 questions, guests were given a custom and personalized share card with their trivia score!

Crossword

We wanted to keep the fun going so we created a 2000’s based crossword puzzle, with answered available from the timeline experience.

Motion explorations

This part of the process helps kickoff the motion explorations for all parts of the experience, as well as gives developers a clear guide for how movement should be approached.

I’ll usually try and use basic shapes to represent elements that haven’t been fully realized just yet, and this also helps prevent clients from focusing on the wrong things during design presentations.
